Our Design Philosophy
Patrick Fitzgerald, CTO of Performance Leader, shares his design philosophy. His approach ensures the platform requires minimal training while delivering powerful performance management capabilities to busy professionals.
Patrick Fitzgerald, CTO of Performance Leader, outlines our design philosophy, which is focused on simplicity, intuitive user experience, and productivity. We've built the platform to be easy to use without extensive training, recognising that performance management, while important, may not be the most urgent task (especially in a context where users measure productivity by billable hours).
Our key design principles include:
- Consistency and simplicity: Uniform interaction patterns across all modules reduce cognitive load and allow users to move seamlessly between different areas of the platform. Training should be focused on why and what, not how to use the platform.
- First impressions matter: We prioritise intuitive onboarding and positive first interactions, creating an elegant design that fosters excitement and trust in the product. If it’s easy and delightful to use, people will use it more and do more meaningful things when they’re there.
- AI as a productivity enabler: Our AI tools quickly surface relevant information, summarise content, and provide contextual guidance for setting and understanding strategic objectives. We’re guided by our personal experience but also feedback from clients who embedded these tools into their workflows.

In V6, we’ve redesigned and reimagined key features to make performance and feedback tasks easier, faster, and more impactful —so our users can focus on what matters most: building strong feedback cultures and driving high performance.

At its core, Version 6 focuses on productivity and user experience, with significant enhancements designed to make common tasks more efficient and enjoyable. The platform supports firms in building vibrant feedback cultures that unleash creative, collaborative and entrepreneurial strengths—directly aligning with Performance Leader's mission.
The Version 6 upgrade will be flexible (September 2025-June 2026) - clients can choose when is best for them to upgrade. It requires minimal downtime (a few hours or less depending on setups), and involves no increase in pricing for existing functionality.
The optional AI and check-ins modules will involve an additional fee with try-before-you-buy options available.
